Hounslow’s Heart Business Improvement District
On Friday 18 July, safer high streets were the main topic focus of our Business Breakfast at Metro Bank. Local businesses and other organisations came together for networking, discussion, and shared focus on safety.
Local businesses and other organisations heard from Ruth Cadbury MP, Leverage Security and WalkSafe – each talking about different and valuable insights to keeping safe.
Ruth Cadbury MP talked about making streets feel safer, especially for women and girls, so they feel supported when shopping, working, or travelling.
Harpreet Kaur from Leverage Security focused on fire safety and updated legislation, following the events of the Grenfell Tower disaster. The Fire Safety Act 2021 now sets out key responsibilities for businesses to keep employees, visitors and residents safe.
Asia Worgan from WalkSafe introduced the WalkSafe app, and how technology can help people feel safer in public spaces. This links to the development of our safe space project.
For us, these conversations are a part of our commitment to creating a safer town centre. We look forward to continuing these conversations and working together to make a positive difference in Hounslow.
